CIE Australia is the Australian National Committee of the International Commission on Illumination, also known as the CIE. As its name implies, the International Commission on Illumination - abbreviated as CIE from its French title Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage - is an organisation devoted to international cooperation and exchange of information among its member countries on all matters relating to the science and art of lighting.

CIE Austrlaia has a news email distribution list which is used to distribute information such as CIE newsletters, announcements of conferences, workshops and new publications, etc. It is freely open to members and non-members alike. For more information please see the CIE News page.
Merger of CIE Divisions 4 and 5
At the CIE Midterm Meeting in Jeju Island, Korea, in October 2017, CIE Divisions 4 and 5 officially merged. The new combined division is called Division 4 "Transportation and Exterior Applications" and it has three subdivisions: a. Fundamentals in outdoor lighting, b. Lighting and signalling for transport and c. Exterior Applications.

eILV Now Online
The International Lighting Vocabulary (ILV) is a Standard that is maintained and updated by the CIE and which relates to terms and definitions of quantities, units, symbols and terminology related to the science and art of light and lighting, colour and vision, photobiology and image technology. While the full ILV is available for purchase from the CIE webshop , it is now possible to look up individual terms online from the CIE website. Just select eILV from the top menu on the main page!
