CIE Australia Lighting Research Conference, CALReCo 2026
CIE Australia is pleased to invite you to the 2026 edition of the CIE Australia Lighting Research Conference, CALReCo 2026. Researchers and members of the lighting community from Australia and overseas will present talks on a variety of topics relating to the core scientific work of the CIE and other related subjects. We hope to see you at what promises to be a high quality and informative conference over one and a half days, either in person or online.

Significant pricing discounts apply to students and members of CIE Australia or other CIE national committees. Registration opens 30 November 2025.
Additionally, after completion of the second half day of the conference we will hold the 2026 CIE Australia AGM and conduct a Research Students’ Workshop, both of which will also be accessible online. More details will follow closer to the event.
Call for Abstracts
Abstracts are sought for presentations and workshops in the field of light and lighting with specific emphasis on:
- Vision and colour
- Physical measurement of light and radiation
- Interior lighting and lighting design
- Transportation and exterior applications
- Photobiology and photochemistry
- Image technology
- Special interest topics:
- Light pollution
- Obtrusive light
- Circadian lighting
- Circularity & sustainability in lighting
- Applications of AI in lighting and measurement
- Other related topics
Abstracts should be no more than 250 words. The conference will consist only of oral presentations of duration 15-20 minutes and workshops of duration 20-30 minutes (times subject to confirmation). There will be no proceedings however an abstract booklet will be provided. The deadline for abstract submission is Friday 31st October 2025 with acceptance notification by Friday 21st November.
Please use the abstract templates below for oral presentation or workshop when writing the abstract. Abstracts can be submitted by email to tonyb@photometricsolutions.com.
As there will be no proceedings, it is not critical that the oral presentations contain completed research – they can be used to show work in progress or inform the community of important developments. Workshops can also be used to outline a problem or research gap that needs attention. In addition to presenting research, the intention of the conference is to promote discussion and collaboration between different groups within Australia and overseas.

Conference Dinner
A dinner will be held after the conference at a nearby restaurant. It is open to conference attendees as well as accompanying partners and others. More details will follow closer to the event.

Please note the following:
- Participants wishing to register at the CIE Australia member rate must be financial members of CIE Australia or another CIE National Committee at the time of registration.
- Students who are not CIE Australia student members wishing to register at the student rate must show either enrolment records or a letter from their supervisor or Head of Department.
- Sustaining Organisation members can register up to five people at the CIE Australia member rate.
- Organisation Members can register up to three people at the CIE Australia member rate.
- Accompanying partners of people registering for the conference at the CIE Australia member rate can book for the dinner at the CIE Australia member rate.
